Twitter doesn't have a feature wherein you can create a public or private group. But one can create a Twitter page about certain causes, products, services, and events, and have people follow you.

Facebook is still the way to go if you want to create a group and gather like-minded people to participate.

3. Hashtags

Twitter pioneered in hashtag use that helps users find a certain topic. Using the hash sign ( # ), a Twitter user will be directed to tweets about the said topic. This is very effective in marketing, because campaigns are started on Twitter through a user-generated hashtag. There's a chance that even if you tag the said establishment on your public post or go directly to the Facebook page, your post might drown in all the other wall posts. If you decide to take it out on Twitter by tweeting the page for that establishment, it can be seen easily, because of the mention of the page on that tweet. There's a chance that someone might directly reply to your tweet.

It's a mix of timing, word choices, and user interaction if you want to praise a service or complain about it on Twitter or Facebook. So there's no singled-out social media platform for this purpose.

It seems the only guaranteed anti-theft is to never post anything. If thieves want it, they’ll take it. Depressing, and true.

How do you know if your photos are being used by other people? These steps will guide you through a simple search of the internet to find your photos. With any luck, you’ll just find your Facebook page, Twitter feed, or Instagram account.

Are You Feeling Lucky?

You will end up with a list of all websites where your photos appear, with or without your permission. These steps are simple - follow them carefully. Here we go!

  • You are going to use the website Google to create a “Reverse Image Search”.
  • Open your internet browser.
  • Find the image you want to investigate.
  • Bring your pointer to hover over the image.
  • Use the right click function.
  • Now you will copy the URL of your image.
  • If you are using Firefox, select “Copy Image Location”.
  • If you are using Safari, select “Copy Image Address”.
  • If you are using Explorer, select ‘Properties’, highlight the “Address”, click CTRL-C.
  • Paste your image’s URL that you copied into Google and click “Search”.
  • You will get a result page and you next click “Search by Image”.

But if you find your image on a site that is completely irrelevant to you and appears to be flat-out stolen you do have a few options, some preventative, some after the fact.

Protect Yo’self!

  • Digitally watermark or emboss your photos.
  • Layer your images so thieves get only the top layer, which you’ve made clear.
  • Cut your images up and reassemble via HTML code.
But remember, no preventative measure protects you against a thief who knows about taking a screenshot. Your recourse when you find theft is to complain to the culprit...ummm, yeah. You can complain to the company who hosts the offending site. You can complain to Google. Or you can crawl into a hole and stop using the internet. Sigh. SIGH.

It’s a brave new world, Big Brother is most certainly watching, and he doesn’t need to spy. We bare all on social media, damn the torpedoes. The standard criminal background and credit checks we consent to when job hunting, do you really think that’s all HR is up to? And what about a dependable payroll service provider?

Beyond simply Googling your name, every Tweet is still out there, and Facebook is forever. It’s naive to assume employers aren’t ogling it all. The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission reports that 75% of employment recruiters scour the web, at their employer’s request, seeking any and all information about prospective employees, and 70% of these recruiters have rejected applicants based on what they found.

We all know employers are not allowed to ask us everything they want to know. Applicants are protected by non-discrimination laws forbidding questions related to your age or gender, your race or ethnicity, your religion, and if you’re married or disabled. But it doesn’t take skilled sleuthing to figure these things out on social media, now does it? And really, wouldn’t it be awfully difficult to NOT figure out these things from social media?

This goes further than an employer seeing the emotional horror show that some people feel comfortable posting to social media, the drunken bead-exchange photos from Mardis Gras, and the bigoted YouTube comments your Dad left while signed into your Kanye West Channel. These things likely should get you not-hired for general foolishness. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Especially not an employer.

Where employers cross the legal line is with knowledge of fully socially approved activity you may have shared. A commonly used example of this conundrum is the woman who posts an adorable photo of her baby bump and how she’s looking forward to paid time off when the baby is born.

Even though only a few states require this paid leave, if a prospective employer in one of these states saw that post, and decided not to hire you for unrelated reasons, and you noticed they’d viewed your post, you might assume your pregnancy was the issue, and you might sue. And you might win.

Or, let’s take this a bit further, you’ve posted a photo of yourself wearing your customary Sikh turban, and now you don’t get hired. Oh, noes! This information about you, your religion, your pregnancy, and more, is the type of information that is not legal for an employer to ask about.

Now What? Unsee?

As it is unlikely an employer will confess if they did use information illegally to make a decision, litigation will be the only way to decide each case until:
  • Laws forbidding this sort of candidate research are passed.
  • Advance consent of the candidate is obtained. And what are you going to do then? Delete, delete, delete!
  • Outside research companies, following strictly enforced guidelines, are used in place of internal HR research.
  • Recourse is available for contested information - the kind that might be obtained when Googling prospective employees with creative and unique names like John Smith or Susan Jones.

Hackers Targeted Twitter User Data for more than 200 million Users

Twitter is world famous social media website like Facebook and a short-messaging service. generating over 340 million tweets daily and handling over 1.6 billion search queries per day. Since its launch, Twitter has become one of the ten most visited websites on the Internet, and has been described as "the SMS of the Internet."

On Friday (Febrauary 1, 2013) it had detected "sophisticated" unauthorized attempts to access information from the short-messaging service used by 250,000 people.

In a blog post, the San Francisco company said it identified this week computerized attacks that may have accessed limited information such as Twitter user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords for 250,000 Twitter users. As a precaution, the company said it reset passwords for the 250,000 potentially affected Twitter accounts.

Twitter said it would send affected users an email with a notification to create a new password. "This attack was not the work of amateurs, and we do not believe it was an isolated incident," Twitter said in its blog post. "The attackers were extremely sophisticated, and we believe other companies and organizations have also been recently similarly attacked."

On occasion, Twitter has disclosed "denial-of-service" attacks, where computer users funnel traffic to websites to cause them to crash.

Twitter in its early days also suffered a few high-profile account breaches, including an incident that resulted in fake Twitter messages being blasted out from Barack Obama's Twitter account.

Apple Eyes Stake in Twitter, Currently Not in Discussions

Apple in recent months has held negotiations with Twitter to explore investing hundreds of millions of dollars in the company, The New York Times reported on Friday, citing people briefed on the matter. The Wall Street Journal said such discussion were held over a year ago, citing a person familiar with the matter.

It is unclear if the two companies talked about a deal in the past and at what level such discussions were held, but there are no current, formal talks between the companies on an investment or acquisition, the sources said.

Both Apple and Twitter declined to comment on the matter.

The iPhone and iPad maker typically does not take equity stakes in companies and prefers to acquire technologies by buying up smaller startups that are lesser known. Twitter executives have said repeatedly they are in no rush to seek additional financing, either privately or on public markets, since they have "truckloads" of cash.

Apple has never delved deeply into the social media space dominated by Facebook Inc, but it has dabbled in trying to make music more social by launching a social network on iTunes called Ping, which has not caught on.

Twitter, the Internet phenomenon with some 140 million users that allows people to "tweet" 140-character messages, is already well integrated into Apple smartphones and tablets. Apple customers can directly share their comments on Twitter when on their iPhones, iPads or Mac line of computers.

Twitter, the San Francisco-based startup that is viewed as the most significant candidate for the public markets following Facebook, is ramping up its efforts to generate revenue from the 400 million tweets that cross its networks daily.
